Substance Abuse and Mental Health Counselor
Deyadira Carrillo BA, CADC serves as a Substance Abuse and Mental Health counselor at WIYV. Her journey of aiding individuals diagnosed with Substance Abuse and Mental Health disorders in Sussex/Kent County, Delaware, began eight years ago. Starting as an advocate at a Domestic Violence shelter, she provided crucial support and case management services. Transitioning to a Methadone clinic, she focused on those battling Substance Abuse disorders and active addiction, delivering individual counseling and group sessions with an emphasis on Harm Reduction amidst the opioid epidemic. This experience enriched her understanding of addiction and Medicated Assisted Treatment (MAT) services.
Furthering her journey, Deyadira served as a group facilitator at a Residential Treatment facility, assisting individuals with co-occurring disorders through group therapy sessions covering topics like Relapse Prevention, Mindfulness techniques, and Domestic Violence awareness. Now at WIYV, she continues her mission to support, raise awareness, and educate individuals, aiming to enhance their quality of life.
Deyadira holds an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice, a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, and is currently pursuing a Masters in Social Work (MSW) from Delaware State University. Additionally, she is a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) in the state of Delaware. Post-MSW, her aspiration is to attain licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) to further her career growth.
In her leisure time, Deyadira cherishes moments with her son, indulges in outdoor activities, travels, listens to music, and enjoys quality time with family and friends.
